Years ago, far, far away in the days of when I belonged to "big tech" social media, I had a strong presence and platform on Instagram. Although I miss parts of it, I honestly rarely think about being part of these organizations. As I have stated before, although I am an extrovert and loved the "social connection"with friends and family, my sole purpose for using social media was for business. When these platforms decided they were anti morals, values, conservatativism and Chistianity, it didn't take them long to find and target me. After realizing that these platforms were of zero use for me anymore due to their censorship of me and my C.S Lewis quotes (*GASP*), I left, and never looked back.
However, before I left, a young man approached me because he was moved by my life story and what I shared on social media with the world. He asked me to check out his jewelry that was started from a passion of his own. You can read his story here
What really stood out to me about the owner of AWARE, is that his own mother suffered from depression (something I have battled in my life as well.) I felt a connection to him right away because he talked about how his own mother was very open about her depression with him, while growing up, yet when he became older, he realized people didn't talk about it like he had been used to. This too reminded me of my own mother, who when I was about 7 years old, was triggered into a severe diagonsis of depression and anxiety. She had never battled this in her entire lifetime. Now, at 35 years old, she experienced her first ever panic attack , where she abandonded her grocery cart in the a small store in Wilber, Nebraska. She had never had a panic attack, so at the time had no idea what she was experiencing. Those were very hard days for my mother and father. My father, a minister, who loved his wife dearly, felt helpless in helping her. His beautiful extrovert wife, full of wit and life, was now just a hollow, pale shell of herself. Although I didn't understand truly at that age what was happening, I do vaguely remember my once spunky, bright, nurse mom, looking very sad and worried and tired all the time. Yet, she still was the best mama a girl could have ever asked for. She somehow kept going, through it all. In time, her and my dad were able to travel and find the right doctor and the right medication to bring her back to her "old self." Now, at almost 69 years old, she is the most chill, calm, positive woman. I am so blessed to have her in my life.

(My mom, big brother Eric, and my dad) xoxo
After the owner and designer looked up the symbol of awareness of mental health, he made his first necklace for his mom. Since then, he has expanded his "awareness" and created pieces for so many people with struggles and illnesss. AWARE necklaces, earrings, bracelets and charms include different colors (and each color has different platforms it supports and brings awareness too as well.) . For instance, the color white includes mental health, invisible illness, depession, blindness, bone disease, lung disease and anxiety. Teal supports PTSD, POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome), trigeminal neuraliga, cervical cancer, OCD and many more! Other colors with awareness include purple, periwinkle, zebra, blue, green, red, yellow, black, pink and teal, orange, grey, pink and many more! You will just HAVE to go to his website to check out all of his amazing collections!

Above, I am wearing my white A.W.A.R.E necklace and I absolutely love it. I'll admit, the most expensive jewelry I own is my wedding band. (Which I love mostly because it means SO very much to me. :) ). Thus, most of my jewelry doesn't seem to "mesh" that well to my ph and skin. Anything other than high quality sterling silver, gold or stainless steel tends to turn my skin an odd greenish color. I have owned and worn this necklace for well over 8 months now and it's just as gorgeous and shiny as the day it arrived!!! Seriously though, have I mentioned yet how much I LOVE I?! I also love that I get so many compliments FOLLOWED by, "What does that stand for?" I boldly and happily then get to tell them, my A.W.A.R.E necklace stands for mental health and bringing awareness to everyone who suffers from mental health struggles in silence.

Whatever our struggle, whether it's us or a loved one, bringing awareness and support is SO incredibly beautiful. It brings a love and healing to the warrior, knowing there are so many fighting for her.

The Bible tell us to be "wise as serpents and gentle as doves." Living "awake and aware" are ways we can be loving, helpful and strategic all in one.
I can't WAIT to see what pieces move your heart to show more awareness and support to the world!
