5 Reasons to hire a health coach



What is a health coach?

A health coach is a certified fitness professional that helps individuals build positive and lasting lifestyle change. Health coaches focus on building confidence and self-awareness, managing and relieving stress, setting healthy sleep patterns, improving nutrition, and creating healthy habits.



Why should I hire a health coach?

If you are serious about changing your lifestyle habits, a health coach can give you the tools you need to follow through and improve your nutrition, sleep, stress management, and physical activity.








Here are our top five reasons to hire a health coach:

1. A health coach will help you set realistic goals.

A resolution is not a realistic goal. Resolutions are emotionally driven ideas that never come to achieve anything but there isn’t anything SMART about it.

As a health and wellness coach through the Health Coach Institute, I recommend setting SMART goals: goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. It’s best to start small and to make one change at a time.


· Make goals that are specific to what you are wanting to change. “ I want to feel better in my swimsuit,” is not specific. “I want to be in a size 8, two piece swimsuit by this summer,“ is specific .

· Coaching for a minimum of 12 weeks gives an individual the most successful amount of time to create and change habits for lifelong success.

· “What you can imagine, you can achieve.” This is a journey. On this journey, I also want this to be enjoyable THROUGHOUT the process. This is not supposed to be a “living hell” of pain, denial and frustration to hit some ending dream goal. The entire process should be one of joy, growth and success.

2. A health coach will keep you accountable.

If you set goals that are measurable, it is easy to monitor your progress and stay accountable. Health and wellness coaches are invested in your success ,and will help you determine the best way to stay on track with your goals. Weekly coaching calls through zoom, in addition to follow up emails and contact with me is also a perk which will set you up for success and empowerment. 3. A health coach will introduce you to healthy ways to relieve stress and anxiety.


Stress and anxiety can greatly inhibit your digestion and ability to lose unwanted fat.


· Salivary enzyme content in the mouth is reduced

· The breakdown of protein, fat, and carbs in the stomach is impaired

· Blood flow to the small intestines decreases as much as four times, which translates into decreased assimilation of vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients


Digestive stress—meaning when you feel bloated or undigested after you eat—is about 25% what you eat and 75% who you are being when you eat. Who are you being when you eat or when you are healing? Are you moving at warp speed, constantly eating on the go, multitasking during the meal, engaging in negative gossip? These are all ways in which we feed the stress response.


You will learn different techniques to assimilate the most beneficial absorption through digestion, as well as lower your overall cortisol levels due to fight or flight response.



4. A health coach will help you see beyond the scale and improve your confidence.

Keep in mind that when it comes to change, there are 3 levels of change.

3 Levels of Change:

1. Behavior 2. Beliefs 3. Identity

Identity determines belief, beliefs determine decisions, and decisions determine actions.





As your health coach, I will challenge your belief system through easy and time friendly exercise such as gratitude journaling. An example would be, “Log three things about yourself each day that made you feel good. For example: I woke up early today, I drank more water, I wore the blue shirt I love, I rocked the presentation.”


5. A health coach will help you achieve positive change.

Choose one thing you can easily change this week and do it 100%. Celebrate it! Next week, add another small, easily attainable change while you maintain the first change. Continue this process, letting each positive change snowball into the next, leading you into your end goal of your healthiest life. Permanently!


Who you are BEING = what your body is DOING


Giving and receiving acknowledgement is incredibly nourishing, and, more importantly, motivating. Most of us don’t acknowledge ourselves nearly enough. We’re often doing the opposite—telling ourselves we’re not enough or should've done better, which is demotivating.
